In this update, we will answer some questions regarding the Supreme Court and its connection to our initiative.
The courts of Amsterdam and North Holland have referred preliminary questions to the Supreme Court. We already touched on this briefly in our previous update.
What are preliminary questions again?
Preliminary questions are legal questions that a court submits to a higher court to obtain clarity on how the law should be interpreted. The Supreme Court will decide whether online gamblers are indeed entitled to a refund of their net losses.
The answers from the Supreme Court will provide clarity on the nullity of the agreements with the casinos. Many courts have already confirmed this. It will take some time for the Supreme Court to answer the questions, but it is important not to wait for that but to take action now!

However, we are not sitting idle until the Supreme Court rules; we are busy preparing the collective lawsuit. We are gathering the necessary evidence and our lawyers are preparing the legal procedure. By taking action now, the court can handle our collective lawsuit as quickly as possible once the Supreme Court has ruled.
What happens after the Supreme Court's ruling?
If the Supreme Court rules that agreements with illegal online casinos are void and that net losses must be repaid, the courts will know how to rule. They will then continue to handle the paused cases. Therefore, it is important to gather evidence (such as bank statements) now, so that we can timely submit them to the court. This way, the court can handle the case as soon as the Supreme Court has ruled.
